Leadership Message
“You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.”
— Zig Ziglar
John Maxwell first heard Zig Ziglar speak this quote while attending a conference as a young leader. Over time, Maxwell simplified the message in his teachings –
“When We Give, We Receive.”
In our last Newsletter, we focused on Value and the significance of your contributions to our Momentum and Success. This message was both recognized and reiterated by our Medical Director, Dr. David Ware, in recent correspondence with our Leadership Team: “Jeff Olson writes in The Slight Edge, ‘Successful people are willing to do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do.’ SSM IS willing to go the extra mile for patient service. That’s what separates us – we’re not simply selling PAP units or performing tests. WE ARE PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE.”
Mark Sanborn says in The Fred Factor, “there are no unimportant jobs, just people who feel unimportant doing their jobs.” Both Maxwell and Sanborn’s message as well as Dr. Ware’s comments illustrate how important each of YOU are to the continued growth of our organization. And continuing to celebrate our accomplishments is vital to maintaining our positive momentum and promoting a culture of improvement.
2022 resulted in more lives touched than any prior year. In January and February, you exceeded those expectations and continued to grow. And in March and April, we exceeded the unprecedented growth of our first two months of 2023!
More referrals. More completed services. More provider partnerships. More opportunities.
When each of us commit to creating a positive impact in the lives of our patients and our provider partners one day at a time, we create MOMENTUM.
As Jeff Olson describes in The Slight Edge, small habits that seem insignificant really do matter in the long run. The small choices each of you willingly make every day to exceed customer expectations and enhance your call to GIVE COMPOUND into the continued growth we are RECEIVING at SSM!
Thank you for your contributions and your continued commitment to our growing Team!

Employee Spotlight – Kim Roberts, LRPSGT
Hi, my name is Kim Roberts, LRPSGT, I have been the director of technical services for SSM Management for the last 14 years. My passion for sleep medicine began in 2002 during my first night of work in the sleep lab. I knew that night that I wanted to become a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist after seeing a patient struggle to breathe and gasping for air, and my other patient on PAP therapy waking up in the morning thanking me for the best night of sleep he has had in years. My goal was reached in 2005 when I passed the exam and gained the credentials, I am so proud to hold (RPSGT) representing the highest certification in the field of sleep disorders.
As the director of technical services for SSM Management, I have built our staff of sleep professionals to become the largest independent employer of credentialed sleep technologists in Louisiana. Because of our amazing team of sleep technologists and our hospital partnerships in the last 5 years, we have provided services to 28,000 patients for in-lab sleep studies, and 19,000 home sleep apnea tests.
I want to send my heartfelt appreciation to our sleep technologist AKA (Dream Catchers). I am deeply grateful for your dedication and all that you do. You stay awake all night, so your patients don’t have to! May you be proud of the work you do, the person you are, and the difference you make. “Laugh and the world laughs with you, snore and you sleep alone.” — Anthony Burgess
