Comprehensive Sleep Solutions

Sleep Specialists Management (SSM) provides quality sleep studies and places strong emphasis on patient care with the overall goal of accurately diagnosing sleep disorders i.e., obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), central sleep apnea (CSA) and narcolepsy.

We provide the following services in our labs throughout Louisiana, as well as a satellite location in Andalusia, AL.

SSM can conduct a comprehensive array of sleep studies:

Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT)
MWT is a test meant to objectively measure your ability to stay awake, which can infer how sleepy you are. The test may be used to assess your response to treatment of various sleep disorders.

Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT)
MSLT is used extensively to test for narcolepsy, to distinguish between physical tiredness and true excessive daytime sleepiness, or to assess whether treatments for breathing disorders are working.

CPAP/BIPAP Titration Polysomnogram Study
This is the same study as the above PSG with the addition of CPAP/BiPAP treatment. The study is started on a low pressure that is adjusted throughout the night until the optimal pressure is obtained.

Polysomnogram (PSG)
A polysomnogram is a multi-parametric procedure that measures bodily functions during sleep to assist in diagnosis sleep disorders.

Equipment

Sometimes the best treatment for sleep apnea and other sleep disorders is to wear a device while sleeping, such as a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) Device. SSM’s DME (Durable Medical Equipment) division may be able to provide CPAP devices and supplies through your health insurance coverage, or you may choose to pay out-of-pocket for the equipment and supplies. Our retail equipment site, Asleep at Home (not covered by insurance), can be accessed by clicking here.

Treatment options will vary with the type of sleep disorder that is diagnosed. Each treatment plan is specifically designed just for the patient. Common treatment modalities can include:

  • Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) Device Therapy
  • Oral Appliance Therapy
  • Soft Palate Surgical Treatment
  • Pharmaceutical Intervention
  • Sleep Hygiene Behavioral Modifications
